Former High School Beau of Britney Spears Criticizes Justin Timberlake Harshly Amid Abortion Revelation
Britney Spears' former flame is stepping up to defend her. In an exclusive interview with The Post, published on Friday, Donald "Reg" Jones, Spears' high school sweetheart, didn't hold back as he criticized Justin Timberlake for suggesting she terminate the unplanned pregnancy.
Jones, aged 45, expressed his strong opinion, stating, "Any man that is gonna ask a woman to have an abortion? Then he is a piece of s–t in my book."
In her recently released memoir, "The Woman in Me," Spears, now 41, disclosed that she became pregnant with the *NSYNC star's child during their relationship, spanning from 1999 to 2002. She made it clear that she would have chosen to keep the baby if the decision rested solely with her.
In her own words, "I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I'd anticipated."
However, Justin's reaction to the pregnancy was far from enthusiastic. Spears recounted, "But Justin definitely wasn't happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren't ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."
She went on to admit, "I'm sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby. I don't know if that was the right decision. ... And yet Justin was so sure that he didn't want to be a father."
Adding to the ordeal, Spears revealed that the abortion was a painful, "excruciating" experience performed in the confines of her home to ensure absolute secrecy.
Before her relationship with Timberlake, Spears dated Jones between 1996 and 1998. In his interview with The Post, Jones expressed a degree of regret that Spears ever ventured into the Hollywood scene. He remarked, "She didn't want to go do Hollywood. She'd been there dancing, singing long enough. And she was just wanting to be normal and live a normal life and go to high school, and stay datin' me I guess. Whatever."
Continuing his perspective, he said, "But as far as the Hollywood, that crap? Look at the road it took her down. My heart goes out to her."
Jones is not the only one who has expressed disappointment in Timberlake after learning about his alleged role in the abortion. The backlash against Timberlake became so intense that he chose to disable comments on his Instagram account.
Unfortunately, this action had an unintended consequence, as online trolls then targeted his wife, Jessica Biel, on her Instagram page, venting their frustration.
A source close to Timberlake disclosed that he is "not at all happy" with the revelations in the book. Despite this, Timberlake received support from his *NSYNC bandmate, Lance Bass, who urged people to show understanding.
"I feel like the world is so full of hate right now, and we need to practice a little forgiveness," Bass stated. "Britney did. Let's take a note from her."
