Nikki de Moura, the Philippines' Representative, Concludes Her Miss Grand International Voyage
The Philippines will have to patiently await another opportunity to seize the Miss Grand International crown.
Regrettably, the nation's representative, Nikki de Moura, faced a setback as she did not secure a spot among the Top 20 contestants in the pageant held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Wednesday.
However, amidst the competition, several remarkable candidates continue to vie for the prestigious title. These candidates hail from Myanmar, the United States of America, Puerto Rico, Nigeria, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, Honduras, Laos, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, India, Ukraine, Thailand, Peru, Angola, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, France, Spain, and Vietnam.
Despite their valiant efforts, the Philippines has not yet clinched the Miss Grand International title. The nation came close on two occasions with Nicole Cordoves in 2016 and Samantha Bernardo in 2020/2021, both securing the first runner-up positions.
Roberta Tamondong, de Moura's predecessor, also demonstrated excellence by making it to the Top 20 in the 2022 competition. Subsequently, she was honored as the fifth runner-up, joining the ranks of the other Top 10 finalists.
While the Miss Grand International crown remains elusive for the Philippines, the nation's representatives have consistently demonstrated remarkable poise and grace on the global stage. The future holds the promise of more opportunities for the Philippines to shine brightly in the world of pageantry.
