Dakota Johnson Opens Up About Chris Martin's Support During Challenging Times_1

Dakota Johnson provided a glimpse into her personal connection with Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin, recounting a moment when he lifted her spirits during a bout of depression.

The star of Fifty Shades of Grey shared insights into her life with boyfriend Chris Martin, highlighting his unwavering support during her toughest times.

Recalling a recent low day at the 2023 Hope for Depression Research Foundation luncheon, Dakota revealed, "A few weeks ago, I was having a low day, and my partner asked, 'Are you really struggling?' to which I replied, 'No?'"

"He pointed out, 'Baby, you are wearing a Cats T-shirt,' referring to the musical," Dakota continued. "Turns out, I really was struggling. But that moment lifted me up and pulled me out of it."

Dealing with depression since her teenage years, Dakota, raised by parents Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, has chosen to speak openly about her experiences, realizing the impact she can have on others.

"If me saying one little hopeful or relatable thing can help someone feel less alone with their experience," she expressed, "then I am a very willing advocate."

Still refining her approach, the 34-year-old actress admitted, "Most of the time, I speak about depression or anxiety in a self-deprecating way. Perhaps, I find it easier to confront it through comedy."

She added, "Using humor to mask my pain or anxiety has become a lifelong tool. It works; it helps me. Because sometimes, if I don't laugh, I will cry."

Throughout her journey, Chris, her partner since 2017, has remained a constant support, offering moments of bliss by serenading her at concerts, enjoying the Malibu beach, and even sharing in the binge-watching of Squid Game over the past six years.
